Principal's Welcome

 Principals Welcome

Hello and welcome to our very special school.

I hope that you find your visit to our website a helpful, enjoyable, encouraging and inspiring experience.

Killard House School is a vibrant learning community of over 300 people, 220 children and young people and around 100 staff.

Our pupils are aged between 3 and 19. Each of whom has a statement of SEN and a complex range of additional learning needs.

Here in Killard House we believe that every one of our learners has the right to thrive and to achieve his or her full potential.  At each stage of what, for all of us, is a lifelong learning journey our skilled and committed staff support each young learner along their path.

Each of our teachers and learning support staff is dedicated to ensuring every pupil is achieving their optimal outcomes at every stage of their learning journey.  We seek effective collaboration and partnership with our pupils, their parents, the Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) and range of agencies who are often involved in the child or young person's care.

Our children and young people engage in learning programs which are guided and informed by the Revised NI Curriculum. The learning programs are supported, enriched, and extended to meet the needs of each learner with an appropriate range of tailored and specialist learning curricula, strategies, teaching skills and methods.

Within our school we provide learning Pathways, each of which is carefully planned to meet the priority learning needs of each child. During a child's time with us, informed by their current learning needs, they may journey along a few Pathway routes. We seek to be responsive, child led, and evidence informed in all our decision making around each child.

This is an inspirational learning community, our website, we hope, gives you a meaningful insight into who we are and what we do.  I hope you find your visit here helpful and that it provides you with the answers to the questions you have.

If you would like any other information on the educational provision that we make for our learners please do get in touch and we will do all we can to provide you with the information you are looking for.

Our school motto is "Together We Can". If you become part of our learning community, we will commit to doing all that we can to ensure this is your child's and your experience.
