Safeguarding and Child Protection

Safeguarding and Child Protection - All Killard House staff have a responsibility for the Safeguarding of all our pupils supported by our school Safeguarding Team. All staff undertake annual Safeguarding and Child Protection training to support them in the important role of keeping our children and young people safe. Safeguarding is what we do as a society to protect individuals from harm such as abuse, neglect and sexual exploitation. Safeguarding ensures children grow up with the best life chances and that all individuals are given safe and effective care. Child Protection is what we do as a society to protect children who have already experienced abuse, neglect, sexual exploitation or have otherwise been harmed.

Killard House School promote a culture where children feel confident to speak out if they have a concern about their own or another child’s safety and where adults feel confident to recognise and respond to safeguarding and child protection concerns. Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy can be viewed on our website and this is reviewed annually by our Board Of Governors and updated accordingly. This includes the new initiative Operation Encompass which is an early intervention partnership between Police and Schools. It is aimed at supporting children who are victims of domestic violence.  Our “Raising Concerns Leaflet” provides information on our School Safeguarding Team who available to contact if an adult has any concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing.
