What a great first week back!
With Shrove Tuesday this week, there was only one thing we could make in HE - Pancakes. It was great to see how skilled everyone has become using the frying pans and hobs. We had a try flipping pancakes with great success. Not a one ended up on the roof!
In Maths, we continued our unit on Time with some subtraction skills using playing cards.
Spelling and sentences was our focus in English. Great work all round.
On Wednesday, we had our last session with Megan and Peace of Mind where we made like jars of confidence. These contained messages of encouragement from our class mates.

It is finally February!
We had an amazing day trip to the Table Cricket Tournament. It was great to see everyone pulling together as a team and show amazing sportsmanship. Have a look at the video, if you haven't already. Well done everyone!
We have started our new topic of time in Maths. We practised o'clock and half past, with some practise with money and subtraction.
In English, we improved our listening, memory and spelling skills.
With Lloyd, we continued learning about basketball and our ball control skills.
Friday brought our Bring and Buy Sale. So many great bargains to be had. Now we just need to find somewhere to put it all!

Another busy week!
In Be The Best You, we looked at our diet and how what we eat can impact it. We looked at the McDonald's menu and created our favourite breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very few people stayed under their daily recommended intake of carbohydrates, fat, saturated fat, protein, sugar and salt.
Continuing on our health kick, we made mushroom bolognese in Home Management.
We completed our OCR units on Data Handling in Maths, Discussions in English and Diversity, Prejudice and Discrimination in Personal Skills. Well done everyone!
Megan helped us understand what resilience was in Peace of Mind.

Half way through this half-term. Time flies when you're having fun!
We started the week with some destruction by damaging sponges. The sponge represented our skin and showed how damage can affect it.
In Home Management, we made sausage ragu. Simple but super tasty.
We presented our data in a bar chart in Maths. In English, we practised our discussion skills.
On Wednesday, Megan spoke to us about our emotions with Peace of Mind.

In Be The Best You, we started our new topic of Health and Hygiene where we practised our hand washing skills.
We made the Ultimate £1 Meal in Home Management, Macaroni Cheese Toastie. Just what you need in this weather!
The Just Ask Sessions started on Monday to discuss all things to do with relationships. A great opportunity to ask "those" questions.
The Baron is back in our novel, and ready to bring the Faceless Ones home but can Skulduggery and Valkryie can stop him?

We were 'all chat' in English as we start our new unit on Discussions. We discussed vaping and it's impacts.
We braved the cold in Maths as we collected data on cars in the car park. We used a tally chart to record our data.
In Personal Skills, we guessed what someone was like based on their appearance. How wrong we were!
We have started our new novel, the sequel to Skulduggery Pleasant, Playing with Fire. Baron Vengeous has escaped and its up to Skulduggery and Valkyrie to stop him.
We went back to basics in Cycling Proficiency as we checked our bicycles safety and practised our pedal ready positions.

We had a great time at the Beehive Cafe on Monday, where we practised our interaction skills.
In Maths, we worked on our adding and subtracting.

In Maths, we finished our OCR unit on Measure by using a thermometer. Well done everyone.
We have finished our novel, and worked on costume design for different characters. Skulduggery and Valkyrie have saved the day, destroyed the indestructible Book of Names, broke the Sceptre and stopped Serpine; but who is controlling the White Cleaver? We will find out in the sequel in the new year.
In Home Management, we made some delicious crepes to practice our pan and flipping skills.

First week back and what a great week.
In Home Management, we tried our hand at making pancakes. We had a whole range from tall and fluffy to huge crepes. Delicious in every form!
We finished our Personal Skills unit in English. Well done everyone!
We are nearing the end of our novel. Will Skulduggery and Valkyrie be able to stop Serpine? Will Tanith die? We will have to wait and see.

We had our last week working in the Snack Shack. It was to great see everyone develop their customer service skills. Amazing work everyone!
In Home Management, we made Ribbon Pasta with carrots and courgette.
We continued measuring weights and capacity in Maths. In English, we proof-read and checked our form filling skills.
On Friday, we had a special visitor - Bob the Tortoise. It was great to learn all about him.

Another busy week!
Another week of great work experience in the Snack Shack. Tesco here we come!
We made some cheesy sausage rolls in Home Management. I don't think many made it home!
We practised filling out forms using our personal information in English.
In Maths, we continued measuring the length and weight of items using a range of equipment.

First full week of October done!
Amazing work in the Snack Shack this week from everyone. It was fantastic to see everyone's brilliant customer service skills.
In Home Management, we made some cinnamon French Toast. Delicious!
We practised memorising our address for our Personal Information topic in English.
For Maths, we practised measuring the lengths and widths of items around our classroom using 1 meter rulers, 30cm rulers and even pencils and fingers.
We got our sweat on with Lloyd doing circuits and running in PE.
It was brilliant to see everyone take part in our Spinathon on Friday. Big wheels kept on turning as we cycled. If you can, please donate to our Cash for Kids fund.
Reminder that our Options morning is this Tuesday (14th October) in the Assembly Hall.

What a busy week that was!
For the month of October, we will be working in our Snack Shack. It was great to see everyone working together to get the shop up and running, and helping customers find everything they need.
After all that hard work, we needed to replenish our energy by making soda bread in Home Management.
Siobhan spoke with us about careers and the support she can give when we start thinking about out future after Killard.
In English, we started our OCR unit on Personal Information, and in Maths we started our OCR unit on Measure.

What a busy September that was, and we're not done yet!
We had a blast from the past in Be The Best You as we thought about what we post online and how it is there forever, especially when we watched old school videos of the class singing in Primary.
In Home Management, we practised our cutting skills as we made vegetable couscous.
We planted our garlic cloves in Horticulture. We hope to transplant these outside and use in Home Management.
On the Wednesday Bus, we travelled to Newtownards Town Centre and had to navigate to Ards Shopping Centre using maps and signposts to help us. We even got a visit to Paddington!

On Monday, we made delicious Double Decker Sandwiches with ham, lettuce and tomato.
The fingers and toes were almost out in Maths as we practised our number and money skills.
In English, we worked on our novel by recalling key parts of the story so far. From Mr Bliss, China Sorrows, Ghastly Bespoke, Tanith Low and Nefarian Serpine, we don't know who to trust and, more importantly, who killed Gordon?
With Wendy, we started to look at people who inspire us.
We broke a sweat with Lloyd in PE as we completed circuits.
For Pupil Choice, we had a session with Sandi. There were lots of high-fives and paws given.

Hello, and welcome to our class page!
What a busy two weeks already. After some team building games on the first day, we drew ourselves in the style of Snoopy. Who knew I had so many great artists in my class. We started our novel Skulduggery Pleasant, which is all about a magic, skeleton detective trying to solve the murder case of his best friend, whose niece has decided to join him on the adventure. Let's hope we don't find anything in the basement! We started the year healthy by making a fruit salad in Home Management. In Maths, we reviewed our adding and subtracting skills, and some time and money. We practised our comprehension and spelling skills in English.
