Welcome to our P1S Class Page
Our aim is to create an environment where each child feels happy, safe, secure, valued and excited to be at school. We want to nurture your child, help them to become more independent and to reach their potential at a pace that suits each individual.
The children in our class learn through play, activity based learning , exploring and experiencing the world around them. We also believe that enabling your child to communicate in a way that suits them best is one of the most important parts of our curriculum. Each day we devote a large amount of time to developing communication through; The Curiosity Programme, Intensive Interaction, teaching how to use PECs and Makaton, using aids such as Go-talk and language development programmes such as Colourful Semantics.
Other activities that take place in P1 include Attention Autism, Sensology, TAC PAC, art , singing, music, messy play and outdoor learning. Literacy and numeracy are taught through our weekly topics to make lessons more engaging and meaningful to each child.
The children receive 1-1 teaching throughout the day to work on individual targets alongside some whole class activities such as circle time and sensory stories. One of our favourite activities in P.1. is the Attention bucket. The children's attention and listening has improved so much from September , we are very proud of everyone.
We would like you to know that we feel very blessed that you have trusted us to start this journey with your child . We would also hope that as a parent you feel that your input is valued and that you feel able to reach out to us about all things big and small as we support each other and work together to achieve the best for your incredible children.
