March Hi-lights
March Hi-lights
March has been a really busy month! We began by making pancakes and did cooking every Tuesday. One of our hi-lights was making our own ice cream which was delicious! This term was our swimming slot and the children finished their block of lessons. They have become more water confident. Everyone dressed up for World book day and shared their favourite stories. As part of our Victorians topic, our teacher set up a Victorian school in our classroom and we dressed up and acted as Victorian children. We had assembly, vocal gymnastics, handwriting and a Victorian playtime.
For our Tuesday bus trip, we had a fantastic time at Stormont park on the lovely play equipment. All the parents and families came to see our amazing Easter performance where we told the Easter story using a slideshow of our pictures. It went really well and we sang a song that we signed to called God’s not Dead. One of our favourite March memories was watching the Killard Masked Singer as part of our shared Education. It was amazing and Paw Patrol won!

We have been carrying on with our Victorians topic and have been learning about what it was like for children going to school then. We visited the Victorian school in the Folk Museum. We also have begun watching a programme called “Maggie’s Diary” which is based on a girl who grows up in Victorian times and begins work. We are still enjoying cooking, art, swimming and going to the library every week as well as all our normal lessons.

January Hi-Lights
Our new year has started with a new topic, The Victorians. We began by looking at who is in our Royal Family and then looked Queen Victoria and how she grew up. Our class went on a visit to the Folk Museum to look at the Victorian classroom. The girls and boys had to line up separately and the strict teacher checked to see if their hands and ears were clean. The children had to bring a lump of coal to school for the fire. The classroom was very different from ours. Children sat in rows and were caned if they made poor choices. We enjoyed a Victorian playtime and a visit to the sweet shop!
This term we have started swimming, new work on subtraction and money. We are enjoying cooking and have made pancakes, scones and biscuits so far…..
December Hi-Lights
December has been an exciting month in class. We have been learning about the Christmas story and enjoyed some Christmas craft work. We visited the Folk Museum on the Tuesday bus where we saw how people used to live. Our class performed a Makaton song called S-A-N-T-A for our Christmas bauble. There was so much joy in the children’s faces at our Fun day where they went in a giant snow globe as well as meeting Santa!
