Yr 12/13/14 Bubble - Miss Lowry / Mr Marshall
HE: Today we attempted to make chocolate chip cookies. Watch to the end for a surprise.🤦🏻♂️😂😂
Travel training: The pupils had to walk in two groups to the Lighthouse. Mrs Main and Mr Marshall set the group’s separate locations that they had to go to on the way. The pupils used the iPads to work out the best route. When the groups reached the locations they had to photograph them. The pupils had to safely travel around Donaghadee. Both groups managed to visit all the locations and finished at the lighthouse.
Koob Championship. We discussed the positives and negatives to competition. Then we talked about how to react to winning and how to react to losing. Finally we thought about what it is to be a good sportsman and sportswoman.
In literacy, the pupils split into two groups. Each group had to think of items around the school grounds and come up with clues to their identities. The groups then went outside and swapped clues. Once the pupils read the clues and worked out the answers they set of to take pictures of the items.
Art: We continued with our cartoon drawing by adding colour. As a progression we used the iPads to redraw our cartoons in the SketchesPro app
PE: Rock Paper Scissors battles, Relays and Rugby ball skills
Thanks for a great week Gentlemen!! Same again next week!

Star Wars Day. We started the day with a presentation about Star Wars and then split into teams for a quiz. Each team had a Star Wars expert as their captain. After break we grabbed our lightsabers (dodgeballs) and headed to the Sports Hall for Galaxy Dodgeball. Light Side Vs Dark Side, it was indeed an epic battle. To finish the day some people built droids, while others watched the latest Star Wars release The Bad Batch.
What a week Team!! Enjoy your Bank Holiday Weekend! See you next week!👍
The Pirate Mathematics Game. Lots of learning and fun! Well done Mrs Main for being the top Pirate👍
In literacy the pupils progressed from letters in their names to items around the school grounds. The pupils split into teams and were given a list of ten items. One pupil took charge of the group and decided which pupil was going to find each item. The teams then worked together to take photos of the items. It was very competitive, well done everyone for your great team work!
In PE we used the S.T.E.P process to increase our success rate in Koob. Space: the pupils discussed how far the koobs should be apart and set them up to their agreed distance. Time: the pupils decided that we did not need to change the time they had to throw at the Koob. Equipment: the pupils decided they should use a ball instead of the Koob stick because a ball is wider. Position: the pupils decided to use the tarmac as it is a hard surface.
We planted sunflowers seeds 🌻 as part of Donaghadee in Bloom
In numeracy we worked on addition and subtraction. The pupils worked in teams with the goal to make a total score of 50. They used whiteboards to calculate their scores.
Numeracy: The pupils worked in pairs to recall number sequences. They also worked out the probability of the next number being higher or lower than the last.

Today was Time to Talk day as part of World Children Mental Health Week. This year's slogan is “The Power of Small”. Year 12/13 bubble created positive posters and placed them around school to make staff and pupils smile. We hoped that by doing something ‘small’ such as creating posters, it would have a huge impact on the Killard families day. To take ‘Time to Talk’, we went out for a walk and talked to a partner. Every five minutes we swapped partners until we had talked to everyone in our bubble. We spent the afternoon talking about Mental Health and how we feel about Coronavirus and being in lockdown. Finally the year 12/13 bubble decided to do another small act of kindness, in the form of sending an email to people who we thought could do with cheering up.
Around the world with the Year 12/13 bubble. In Geography we picked our favourite countries and researched as much as we could about them. Once we had found the information we mirrored our iPads to the screen and presented our findings to the rest of the class. We then found a really fun and competitive game involving picking up passengers. We took it in turns to play and again we mirrored our iPads to the screen to allow the rest of the class to see our attempts. A really enjoyable trip and well done on your presentations Year 12/13👍👍
No short circuits in Year12/13 bubble today! Excellent everyone! Great work at the end of the video Tianna, sorry Mrs Main and Miss Greer.🏀🏀
Welcome to Mrs Main’s Market Madness and Miss Greer’s Greengrocers! Today the Year 12/13 bubble went shopping for a bargain. Each pupil selected their shopping items from the list provided.
