Year 8 were hunting for forces at The Commons. Today, we looked for a new force... GRAVITY! Cormac found gravity on the slide (even though it was a bit slow!), and on the see saw with Philip. Darcy and Zara also tried out the spinning seesaw and had great fun! Jacob and Max gave the fireman’s pole a go - gravity brought them down to earth really quickly! Rachel and Dylan found push and pull forces on the swing, which has beautiful views across the sea. Jay used the push force to move Grace on the big round swing! Zara pushed herself, Liam and Luke around on the roundabout, using her feet and leg muscles. Chelsea used the PULL force to climb up to the top of the climbing frame- how brave! What a lovely day hunting for forces in Donaghadee!
Year 8 had a lovely start to Friday morning, painting their salt dough creations from last week!
Year 8 have been using acrylic in T&D. This is a difficult material to work with and all pupils tried their very best! We used coping saws, hand files, the belt sander and the polisher!
Year 8 had a brilliant morning at the Transport Museum. They enjoyed jumping on and off the trains and also saw old buses, trams and cars. Some of the pupils were particularly interested in the DeLorean car from Back to the Future! A great morning 😊
Year 8 made salt dough. We had to measure out the ingredients and mix it all up. Very messy but very fun!!! We had sensory play - making sausage and sphere shapes. Finally, we made different animals from all around the world. We will be using these in the future to learn about habitats!
Year 8 have been learning about forces. We hunted for push, pull and twists in the outdoor gym!

Year 8 had a great time exploring the new interactive reading resource Rapid Read. They then had to fill in a book review.
It was our first time using acrylic plastic in Technology today. We all listened to instructions and tried our best at all times! We have learnt lots of new skills which will help us in our future projects.
Post primary started off their Panto rehearsals with toast and scrambled eggs . Yum yum .
It was a cold, wet morning in Donaghadee so Years 8 & 9 started off their Literacy morning with some toast!

We have been learning about looking after the environment. Today we learned some new vocabulary, and used iPads to do research.
We have been using beakers, measuring cylinders and syringes to measure liquids in science
Year 8 took the Wednesday Bus to Millsle beach, where we participated in a “beach clean”. Look how much plastic and rubbish we collected! Yuck! We had time after all our hard work, for some fun in the play park! What a great day!
Year 8 5a-side football tournament in Ulster University. Phillip Fusco was awarded a trophy for ‘ Man of the Match ‘ !

We have been introduced to some new equipment. We used beakers to measure water, and stopwatches to time how long it took to boil using a Bunsen burner!
We have been showing great team work while playing some eco-games. We have been learning about recycling and different types of bins.
A special Awesome award was present to Grace Kennedy in Year 8 this morning for having a great start to Year 8. Well Done Grace we are very proud of you.
Year 8 went on a trip to St.Gerards on Wednesday to compete in a dodgeball tournament. Staff were very proud of the pupils who played fairly and finished 3rd. Well done to all!
In Science, we have been learning about different safety rules and equipment. Look at us using bunsen burners!

Year 8 took part in a fantastic 'Sentinus' day. We had helpers from Regent House, and made rockets, planes, and K-Nexx transport!
