Hello SCU6, mums and dads. We hope that you are well and are enjoying some free time this week. We just want to say a ‘Big Thank You’ for working so well throughout your time in SCU6 in school and at home. We have had some fun times learning together and hopefully you have lots of good memories. Sometime scroll back through all of our class photos to remind yourself of them. Lastly, we want to wish you all a happy and restful summer break. Now that our Lockdown is beginning to ease , I hope that you will all be able to get out and about to enjoy some fun times, while staying safe with your families. Did I hear cheering?? Well done to all of the boys who have accessed the website and Active Learn for activities, you are Super Stars!! Thank you again for all the lovely emails and photos, they were a pleasure to read and I loved seeing photos of the boys with their work and having fun! SCU6 Home Learning Week Beginning 8-06-20 Hello everyone, I hope that you have all had a lovely restful weekend. Sadly, the weather wasn't like last weekend, so I'm sure there weren't so many at the beach or as many BBQs. SCU6 Home Learning Week Beginning 26-05-20 Hello boys, mums and dads, I hope that you had a great weekend, were able to have some fun time together and get a chance to relax! Thank you for, logging into Active Learn to complete activities, sending me some lovely emails and photos. It is great to hear and see all the things you have been doing at home. This week have a look at the P.E, Music, HE, Art, Science and Technology sections on the website for some other really lovely ideas of projects which you can do at home. Welcome Back SCU6 boys and parents. I hope that everyone is well, have enjoyed the amazing weather over the Easter Holidays and are ready to do a little more school work. We have now got access to Active Learn which will allow the boys to read e-books, complete literacy, maths and science activities. If you complete the on-line activities you will gain rewards which allows you to play some games. I hope that you will give the activities a go, enjoy and learn! Please read the information below to help you access Active Learn and other suggested activities for the week. If you have any difficulties accessing Active Learn please email the school and we will contact you as soon as possible. Hello SCU6, I hope everyone is well and keeping safe. It has been a bit of a strange week not being in school and doing lots of fun Easter Activities together. I was really looking forward to painting our eggs, taking them to the Commons to roll them, have an Easter Egg Hunt and enjoy fun together. Sadly, we couldn’t get to do this but some of you live close to the beach and others open spaces so maybe you could have your own Egg Hunt or maybe a Scavenger Hunt. Anyhow, it’s Friday and I'm sure you have all earned your Golden Time, so enjoy some free time this afternoon. Also, it’s now officially the Easter Holidays so ‘ NO’ school work for 2 weeks!!! Hello SCU6, I hope that you’re all well and enjoying some time with your families. I know that you all love to spend time gaming and you’re probably ranking up in your games. I know this is fun but can I please encourage you to spend some time doing ‘ other things’ as well. Letter to parents
Week beginning 23/03/20 This week I would love you to choose a book and read every day for a short time. When you have read the book complete the book review .We have been learning about nouns in class (a person, place or thing). Please see how many nouns you can find in what you read each day. Complete the noun activity.
Numeracy Activities- Some of us have been learning our times tables, this week continue to work on your 3 times tables. Others have been adding and subtracting with numbers to 20. We have also been finding the area of shapes by counting the squares and multiplying. You could measure items in your house for example books, kitchen tiles, windows and doors. The numbers may be bigger but you can use a calculator to work out the area and remember to measure the length and the breadth and multiply. Dont worry about the triangles in the area worksheet.

The boys enjoyed completing paintings imitating Egyptian papyrus art and painting their names using Egyptian hieroglyphs.
The boys shared favourite parts from the books they brought to school for World Book Day.
As part of our topic on the Egyptians we experienced aspects of the River Nile through a variety of sensory boxes. The boys got to feel desert sand, silt, soil and water.

SCU6 enjoyed a fantastic morning at Ballywalter Fire Station. First they listened to the various roles of a fireman and looked at some of the equipment they used. Then we went outside and discovered how they accessed the water from the ground. Next we all got a turn at using the hose to try and knock down two cones. To end the day we all had a ride around the station in the engine. A super day out!

SCU6 had fun experimenting with water, baking soda, washing up liquid, food colouring and vinegar to make their volcano erupt!

SCU6 enjoyed a day out to Rockport. After a snack we walked along the coastal path to a little beach where the boys thoroughly enjoyed clambering onto the rocks, looking for unusual stones and having a go at skimming. We also tried a little bird watching but only spotted a few seagulls.

SCU6 practised their cutting skills to produce these lovely Christmas trees. Everyone had fun decorating them with lots of sequins and glitter!
SCU6 enjoyed their trip to the Folk Museum today. We looked at the Bank Manager’s house and how it was decorated compared to those in Tea Lane. We then visited the Sweet Shop and bought some well deserved treats.
SCU6 visited the Eco Bus. We talked about recycling our litter and how it is reused. We made badges and received an Eco Bug made from recycled plastic.
SCU6 have been finding out about Christmas in Australia. As part of this we designed a new costume for Santa so that he can cope with the warm weather!
Today we celebrated Christopher’s 10th birthday. We all enjoyed a slice of some yummy chocolate cake and a few other little treats. Happy Birthday Christopher.

SCU6 were the very proud winners of the ‘Christmas Card ‘ competition. We worked together to create this lovely card using our thumbprints. Everyone was presented with a certificate and some chocolate treats in assembly. Well Done SCU6!
This week we have been learning about Remembrance Day In ICT we created a word document using some of the facts we had learned, added a title, a order and inserted an image. We also created poppies using tissue paper and pastels.
On Thursday we celebrated Ashton’s10th birthday. We enjoyed eating some yummy chocolate cake and a few other treats.
This week SCU6 enjoyed finding out about Guy Fawkes. We had fun painting fireworks and making some posters.
