Good morning SCU5! Well done on reaching the end of week 2 of your home learning. It feels a bit weird breaking up for Easter holidays when we haven’t been in class together doesn’t it? However, you have all been adjusting to this new way of working and you deserve your break now. I hope you enjoy your Easter, eat lots of treats and have great fun with your families. I have uploaded an ‘Easter Nests’ recipe if you want to try some baking at home. Remember, you are doing a great job and everyone at Killard is very proud of you! SCU 5 had a wonderful day full of exciting activities and learning opportunities. We began our day with a Sport Relief Super Walk around school which which left everyone feeling super fit. Next on the agenda was a comprehension based of Thomas Edison, which you can ask us all about at home. Miss Hart then took us for some awesome art work. Finally, Mr Marshall wrapped up a great day with an excellent PE lesson. It is safe to say, it was a day full of smiles and laughter.
Everyday we do a relaxation technique called Take Ten which we helps us to get into a good mindset.
Every day we have good morning and good afternoon time in our teaching circle. We encourage good looking, good sitting, good talking and good listening.
The book fair has come to Killard!!! We are all excited about the books we can buy.......
Killard's winning football team with Billy as the goalie!
Our topic is Victorians. Today we researched some victorian inventions. Ask us some of the things the victorians invented.
In our work on Rights Respect Schools we are learning about Disability.
SCU5 have been learning about instructional writing. Today we were able to write down a list of instructions for making pancakes. This will serve us well when we come to the practical tomorrow. It is safe to say, everyone is very excited for tomorrow!
We were ready to shop till we dropped! Look at the bargains we got from the bring and buy sale!
Do a time out calm down activity in class after transition times, to get our "heads into a good place". We listen to music and go on a journey in our heads to our safe place.....
In numeracy we have been finding the lines of symmetry in shapes using mirrors. Symmetry is all around us. Can you find lines of symmetry at home with your child?
Today in PDMU, SCU5 were learning about how unkind words and actions can damage our mental health. We used two apples to demonstrate this. We talked about the things we liked about one apple and then said some unkind things to the other. We then compared how both apples still had the same physical appearance after our words. However, once we cut them open, we discovered that one apple was damaged. We realised that our unkind words can have serious consequences on the inside of a person. Everyone really enjoyed this practical demonstration of why it is so important to be kind.
In PE today, Mr Marshall was giving an expert demonstration on all of the techniques required to score a strike in ten pin bowling. Fundamental movement skills have been a big focus for SCU5 and they have made excellent progress with the throwing, rolling and balancing.
Today SCU5 had a wonderful time working with the Bee-Bots. These activities enabled the children to improve their skills in directional language and programming. Everyone had lots of fun and plenty of laughs.
The children work hard all week, following the Golden Rules to earn Golden Time on a Friday afternoon as a reward. Today we had rocket lollies and ice cream as an extra treat for making good choices.
We have a class recognition board where we work on things to do with our Golden Rules. This week we have been focusing on "Good Manners". Next week we are trying to "keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
Usiing our phonics sounds, helps us to build words.
We love decorating buns!
Everyday we start the day with some chill out time to ease us into our work time....
Every week we have "Show and Tell" before Golden Time. The children talk about what they have bought in from home and then they take 2 questions from their audience. Children bring in all sorts of things that are precious to them.......
Santa visited SCU5 - he was so cuddly and kind.........
We have been busy doing christmas crafts this week.
We love technology, here we are enjoying the Ipads and computers having fun.
Every day we do phonics in the morning, it helps us with writing and reading new words. Learning our sounds is very important and we do it in different ways...
It's nearly that special time of year........ We got our tree up today and everyone helped to decorate it whilst we listened to christmas music!!!
