P7D

Welcome to our positive and creative P7 classroom!  We like to focus on the children's thinking skills and developing their independence, social skills and resilience.  We do this through being purposeful and active through the day with a varied and stimulating approach to learning.  We have a positive ethos in our room, ensuring everyone is appreciated, listened to and feels secure and happy through their day.

March Highlights

Well we’ve had a very ‘eggciting’ run up to Easter!  This last week we've had our special Easter assembly – the children have worked very hard and they did so well on the day in front of parents and carers!  Yay – Fantastic Job – we’re so proud of you!!  We also enjoyed rolling our eggs at The Commons and have an egg hunt down there too. This month we have finished our swimming lessons – we’ve done so well with this – enjoyed baking Easter buns, watching The Masked Singer for Comic Relief and also reading books for World Book Day!  We’ve been learning about 3 dimensional shapes and extending our writing through letter writing with opinions and feelings!  We have also been thinking about growing up and how we can help ourselves have a Happy Mind!

February Highlights

Well this month we have really got stuck into learning about what life was like for people living in Victorian Times.  We are enjoying playing games from that time like Pick-Up Sticks and Marbles as well as visiting the Folk Museum to see what their houses might have been like - not an X-Box or Nintendo Switch in sight!  We have also competed at a Boccia Competition in Antrim, bought fabulous things at the Bring and Buy Sale and made waffles for Pancake Day/Valentine's Day and also yummy Pitta Pizzas.  P7 also went to the Ards Arena to learn about keeping safe and are enjoying swimming and tag rugby!  Some of us have also learnt to tie our laces in preparation for Year 8!  Our reading, writing and spellings are really coming on as well as maths where we're working on telling the time, symmetry, tesselation and lots of tens and units work - we are busy, busy, busy!

January Fun and Learning!

We have had a super start back to a new term with lots of games to help us build friendships and practice skills.  We enjoyed baking choc chip cookies, PE, Art and of course playing in the snow!  We even made a tiny snowman called Cecil and kept him in the fridge to see how long he would last.  P7 also enjoyed learning about symmetry, Roman Numerals, 2D shapes and getting started on our new topic The Victorians.  Lastly we had a great winter's walk to the lighthouse - what a beautiful day!

At the library and the lighthouse!

What a busy January - lots of snow fun, walks, learning and building friendships.

***DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS IN P7***

Well we have been incredibly busy up in P7 - not only have we been learning about lots of nifty maths skills like rounding numbers, place value skills and about letter writing and writing our news on SeeSaw, but we have also....practiced and produced our fab Christmas Rap, loads of Christmas art and crafts including our FANTASTIC Christmas Door (which came 3rd! - Go Us!), wrapped our presents for our family members, baked Gingerbread decorations, watched the KHS Secondary Pantomime, walked to the library and had an Amazing Fun Day complete with visit to Santa in his grotto!  What a school!

November Highlights!

We have had a fun filled November with making cookies for Children in Need, a visit from The Bubble Man and our excellent Kurling Trip to Belfast to take part in a competition.  We also enjoyed lots of news chat, Circle Times and a visit from The Amazing Journey as well as a walk to the War Memorial for Remembrance Day!  Enjoy scrolling through our photos to see what we've been up to!

October Highlights

We had a great October in class learning all about ourselves, getting going with reading and numeracy where we thinking about number sequences, orders and had fun getting to programme the Bee Bots.  We also tried our hand at Den building at Donaghadee PS and we are now planning and preparing our own den building area.  We enjoyed walks to The Moat and a visit from the Fire Service too.  Of course we all enjoyed dressing up for our Hallowe'en Dress Up day!
