This week P6 travelled to the Girdwood Centre in Belfast to take part in the Disability Sports NI Boccia tournament. We had great fun and enjoyed making friends with boys and girls from other schools!
This week in P6 we were so lucky to have Mrs Fleming and Mrs Hastings from our speech department taking us for a lesson. We focused on our different emotions and how we can express them.
As part of our “houses and homes” topic work, we used clay to make our own houses!
We have been working hard during numeracy topic work! We can now read o’clock and half past times!
We have had the best day with our friends from Donaghadee Primary School, taking part in the shared education programme.

Happy New Year everyone! P6 are already working hard on our new numeracy topic - time!
A super, fun, festive week in P6! We’ve had our Christmas party, Christmas baking and made our own decorations but best of all was our visit to the magical Killard grotto to see Santa!! Luckily he said we are all on the nice list!! Merry Christmas from P6!!
As a special treat, P6 had our very own Christmas do! We headed down to the Captains Table in Donaghadee for a yummy lunch (Rosemary and the rest of the staff took such great care of us) before walking down to the lighthouse and finishing our day in the park! We got lots of lovely comments on our great behaviour and beautiful manners!
Our new sound this week is ‘ng’. Check out how we have been using this sound to build new words!
As a special treat, P6 got to go trampolining this week! We had so much fun and our instructor Joan was amazing, teaching us how to bounce safely and even do a few tricks!
Well, we wrote our lists and we checked them twice, then it was time to hit Bloomfield's for our Christmas shopping! All of the children took lots of time to make sure they were buying just the right presents for their loved ones. We were all very grown up and independent using the self service checkout, then there was just enough time to vote for the Killard House reindeer, Donaghadeer! Back at school we had a great day listening to Christmas songs, drinking hot chocolate and wrapping our presents. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas....
We had a visit to the eco van today. Noel was great and told us lots of interesting facts about recycling. We are all experts now on putting rubbish in the correct bin! To finish the session we got to make our own badges. Thank you Noel!
P6 were busy building words using our new sound of the week, which is the “ay” sound.
A super fun day for Children In Need!
Today in P6 we were learning about Remembrance Day. We then used pastels, paints and tissue paper to create our own poppy pictures. We took so much time and care when working on them. The end results were just beautiful!
This week P6 have had great fun with Mrs Curry in P.E. We have been learning to move to a rhythm!
Happy Halloween everyone!! P6 have had a great day with lots of Halloween arts and crafts, Halloween baking and of course the Killard Halloween Bop!!
To finish our “All About Me” topic, we carried out a fun experiment to find out how good our senses are! Out of our 5 senses, we discovered that our sense of sight was the strongest, although the one we enjoyed testing the most was our sense of taste. We had to try 5 different flavours of crisps... it was a hard job, but someone had to do it!
As part of our topic”All About Me” we have been learning about our five senses. After learning all about the sense of sight, we worked in pairs to find out how difficult it would be to not have this sense. We were great friends, guiding and supporting each other!
P6 working hard on our letter formation!
P6 had a fabulous morning at Mount Stewart! After a lovely break in the tea rooms, we went exploring and talked about all the signs of autumn that we could see!
As part of our 'World Around Us' topic work, P6 have been learning all about the different seasons and how to recognise them!
P6 had great fun creating these amazing autumn trees. We used lego, cotton wool, cotton buds and even tinfoil to paint with!
