Merry Christmas from everyone in Year13 πŸŽ…πŸ»πŸŽ„β›„οΈπŸŽπŸŽ‰

In September the Post 16 were very kindly donated a Trike by Sinead and Mary. Sinead came to school last week so that pupils and staff could present both ladies with a much appreciated token of Thank You. The Post 16 pupils have been making good use of the trike as they participate in their cycling proficiency qualification. Thank You both so much again Sinead and Mary and we wish you both a healthy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

More fun today πŸ₯³

Year 13 are β€œSimply having a Wonderful Christmas timeβ€πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ»πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ»

During their Christmas Party celebrations Mrs McBratney joined the Year 13's and 14's for a very competitive christmas quiz this afternoon!

During our Recycling unit we created trees from twigs collected from the local forest. The pupils took the trees home to their families to decorate them further.

World Children’s Day 2020. Year 13s had to choose a country and recreate their flag. We chose The Netherlands πŸ‡³πŸ‡±. While the class decorated their flags, we listened to the Dutch national anthem and some other Dutch music. The class then voted for the flag that they felt was the best. The winning flag was created by Josh and it will be displayed in the school foyer. We talked about The Netherlands and what The Netherlands was famous for. We came up with Clogs, football and Dutch pancakes. After break, we mixed a pancake batter and made “Dutch” pancakes. πŸ˜ƒ. Great Year 13 thanks for your hard work πŸ‘

Year 13 writing positive comments about their peers.

The guys decided it would be nice to send some positive comments to secondary staff

What a 'Quacktastic' time the year 13's had on Children in Need day 2020.

  • We baked Spotty Pudsey Cookies and then, we ate Spotty Pudsey Cookies.
  • We decorated Rice Krispie treats shaped like Pudsey. Thank you Miss Greer for taking to time to make them for us.
  • We took part in the Children in Need Duck Race, drawing out our ducks from the 'Big Bowl'. The winning Duck was Quackman and Bobbin held by Kile!!! Winner winner duck dinner!!!
  • Finally, we held our own Killard House Rickshaw/Bike Challenge 2020. This year was the 10th year of the Children in Need Rickshaw challenge. So the Year 13's took up the challenge to cycle around the school car park 10 times each. 'MORE MORE' the pupils shouted, 10 simply was not enough. The pupils, in total, completed 200 laps.  Mrs McBratney, Miss Greer and Mr Marshall got in on the cycling action and completed 1 lap each. So our final lap count was 203 laps. WELL DONE Year 13 for completing the 1st Killard House Rickshaw/Bike challenge.

On our final day before the Hallowe’en break, we took part in teamwork games. There was a hidden message in the cups, the teams had to get the words in the correct order.

During this weeks Travel Training, the group chose three new locations in Donaghadee. Kile was the leader this week and he did a brilliant job. Well done Kile.

Pedestrian travel training with Mrs McKee in the Dee

Each week during travel training, we will be following the Ards and North Down map of Donaghadee. The map shows points of interest within The Dee. This week Matthew and Toby lead the group to the lighthouse and found a great view of the Copeland Islands. Unfortunately we could not get onto the Island so we had to settle for the view. Thank you Matthew and Toby for getting us there safely!

Josh wants to be a builder when he grows up. We asked him to start with plastic cups. Good job Josh

Toby was victorious in the recent Table Tennis Championship. Well Done Toby!!!
