Mrs Sharon Derrick

Welcome to our positive and creative P7 classroom!  We like to focus on the children's thinking skills and developing their independence, social skills and resilience.  We do this through being purposeful and active through the day with a varied and stimulating approach to learning.  We have a positive ethos in our room, ensuring everyone is appreciated, listened to and feels secure and happy through their day.

June Highlights

This month we have been getting ready for finishing P7 and getting ready to move to Year 8.  We have also enjoyed walks around Donaghadee, to the woods, the park and to get ice cream.  We had a brilliant trip to W5 with the rest of KS2, enjoying Climbit, Fizz Bang Pop and The Lost Planet soft play.  We enjoyed our very special Graduation Day - watch the video from the home page - when we marked each of the pupils and  recognised their strengths and qualities.  Lastly we enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Saints and Sinners - everyone really enjoyed it and it was a great finish to our year!  It has been quite a year and it is unbelievable that we are at this stage. All that remains is to wish each one of our brilliant pupils a fantastic summer and as they move to Year 8, wherever that is, that will remember the good times from P7!  Onwards and upwards!

Thanks too to the P7 team - Mr Ennis and Mrs Ross!

May Highlights

P7 have continued being busy through May with visits from Anita to help us start thinking about moving on to Year 8.  So far we've thought about CHANGE and CHOICES and there's more to come!  We have also had a special visit from Summer the Therapy Horse (miniature!) which we really enjoyed.  We've continued to grow our den-building skills and spent a great Friday morning litter picking in the 'den area'  and then out and about in our local community - great citizens!  We've baked flatbread, voted in the school elections, had another mini Victorian School Day and also squeezed in a lot of work (and fun) in class! Oh and to finish May we enjoyed a brilliant day at the shore at Rockport School! Enjoy our pics!

Wednesday bus to Rockport!
