Mrs Dowling

We have had a great week. All of year 8 are back and it is lovely to have a full class again. On Tuesday we had a chat all about what we had been up to over the break and we wrote it up on Wednesday. We have made the best of the beautiful weather and been for a few walks. We went to the lighthouse on Tuesday as we are starting our project on Donaghadee. We then made some amazing sunset lighthouse silhouettes. On Wednesday we played dodgeball outside for P.E. and in the afternoon we played board games. On Thursday we went to the beach and collected lots of sea glass. Hopefully we will be able to use it for some artwork. On Thursday we were able to go down to the youth club room to play table tennis, table football etc. Of course we also did lots of hard work. We caught up on reading and did length work for numeracy. Today we did lots of research on lighthouses and then we made s’mores!! Delicious ! Everyone worked really well this week and also played well together. Have a great weekend.😁

We have had great fun the last two days. We have loved watching the masked singer and were happy when unicorn won. On Thursday we baked Easter nests. We ate one yesterday and kept the rest for today. Today we were able to go to the youth club building for some reward time. We played pool, table tennis, table football and did some colouring in. Jasmine even painted Mrs Dowling and Miss Crothers’ nails! We also celebrated a birthday so we had cake and treats. We had a fun day and everyone went home with an Easter egg. Have a great break and stay safe everyone!!!
It has been a very busy week for year 8 and it’s only Wednesday!! We have worked hard on our reading, worked on some measuring and did some Easter phonics. We watched Glen’s assembly which as usual was fantastic and walked our daily mile. We have been very ‘arty’ this week. We decorated hard boiled eggs, designed our own Easter eggs for displaying outside our room and also decorated some llamas! Today, we chilled with some take ten, caught up with Jay on zoom and played some dodgeball. We watched the first heat of The Masked Singer which was brilliant and voted for our favourite. This afternoon we went to the commons to roll our eggs down the hill. We were lucky to get back before the rain.

This week year 8 were very excited as Mrs Dowling came back!😁 On Tuesday, they read their books to her and she was really impressed.  The weather has been beautiful this week so we took advantage of it and went on a few walks to the commons and the lighthouse. Today we made malteser rocky roads. They were delicious! We then watched Charlie and the chocolate factory. Have a lovely weekend! Hopefully the good weather will stay.
A very exciting week for year 8. Along with the usual reading, numeracy, newsround and Joe Wicks, the class also finished their books!! Everyone of the stories are completely different and absolutely amazing. We were so proud we decided to have Killard’s first ever book launch. On Tuesday we invited Mrs McBratney and Mrs Yeates to our room and all the children read out their books. We had some lovely snacks and lemonade or orangeade from champagne glasses. Very posh!  It was definitely a huge success. Well done year 8! Today we made biscoff fudge. As you can see from the pictures everyone thought it was delicious. Have a great weekend everyone. Hope you have a nice Mother’s Day.😁
Another great week with our amazing year 8 class. As always, we watched newsround each day and did Joe Wicks workouts Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Monday afternoon we went for a lovely walk along the front and had a delicious ice cream from the cabin. We did a little more work on forces this week, again using the Newton balances. We did lots of numeracy work and reading as well as watching a bit of David Attenborough. Yesterday we started to write our own books! Each one of us had a different idea for a story. We look forward to sharing them when we have finished. We went to the park at the commons yesterday and I’m sure you can see from the photos how much fun we had. Today we made chocolate treats. They turned out really well and anyone who was lucky enough to try one loved them. It was also lovely to welcome back Jack this week. Have a great weekend everyone!!!
