I really am missing all of your beautiful little faces, it has been such a pleasure to teach you this year. I hope you are at home, keeping safe and having lots of fun with your families. Know that I miss you and I promise I will come in and visit you all when we are allowed back to school. Lots of love, Mrs. McKeag!

Good Morning Parents! Congratulations on completing your first week of learning at home- all of Foundation D are routing for you. As you begin the adventure of week 2 I have posted another document of learning ideas/activities that you can use. Please remember, these ideas are to help you, not to put you under any more pressure so please only do what is helpful. Refer to last weeks post for all other useful links, ideas and sensory tips. And children, know we love you, miss you and can't wait to see you again! Keep safe and make lots of memories this week! love, Mckeag and the FD team.
Hello Foundation D Parents! Please find below four documents that will hopefully be of help to you as you have your children at home and try your best to continue with their education. We completely understand that is not practical for you to run a ‘normal’ school day at home. These documents are simply to outline some of activities we do on a daily basis that might help you provide a little bit more structure for you and your children. Pick what might benefit you and make your life easier and maybe try and include one or two learning activities a day. I know that these are very difficult times for a lot of us so please don't allow these outlines to add any more stress to a difficult situation and remember.... You will also have some good ideas yourself – trust your own judgement, You can do this! All of the Foundation D staff are cheering you on! Please check back on the 30th for more ideas. Mrs. Mckeag and all of the Foundation D staff.
We have had a very exciting week in Foundation D! We are completing a Thematic Unit exploring how we can move. This week we moved by rolling. We had so much fun rolling on different textures. As we continued on with our Bear Hunt story we have made it to the ‘thick oozy mud’. We ‘squelched and squerched’ to create a muddy picture for our lovely Bear Hunt display. During literacy we completed a sensory sequencing activity based on our topic story. We are really starting get the grasp of it. On Wednesday we had a special treat and turned our classroom into a Teddy Bear cinema. We all had a teddy to join us in relaxing. Our favourite activity of the week was our jungle gym for sports relief. We had so much fun running, climbing, crawling and jumping all for a good a good cause. After a busy week we are all ready and looking forward to our long weekend. Hopefully the sun stays out. Enjoy!
This week we continued on with our ‘Bear Hunt’ topic. We have been very busy playing with our new toys. For PDMU we have started a new scheme of work about how we can move our body. We had a lovely session watching our hands move in a mirror before we did some throwing and catching. Our art activities over the next number of weeks will be based on our topic story. This week we worked together, taking turn, to create a sensory river picture. We enjoyed working with all of the different materials and getting to rip up paper. In numeracy group work we explored the mathematical concepts long and short as well as in, on, under and beside. During literacy we continued work on writing our names. Movement group is always one of our favourite activities of the week. Look at our photos to see how much fun we had and also how hard we were working. As a special treat on Friday we had PE outside in the sunshine. It was a very beautiful and fun afternoon activity!
After a lovely week off Foundation D were glad to be back at school and excited to start our new topic ‘We are going on a Bear Hunt’. It is one of our favourite stories! We have enjoyed our new ‘bear’ themed played...it has kept us very busy. We have played games with compare bears, acted out our topic story in the sand, sent up a Teddy Bears picnic and practiced dressing by dressing the teddy bear. It’s hard work dressing someone else!! On Tuesday we celebrated Pancake Day by decorating pancakes. We used sprinkles and icing sugar. We hope our parents enjoyed them. Attention Autism is always one of our best times of the week and this week was no different. During Attention Autism we made ‘Magic Milk’. We attended really well as Mrs Mckeag carried out the experiment. It was really exciting seeing all of the colours mix. Today we spent sometime at soft play and the blue room. We had so much fun in the blue room with the bean bags and making shadows on the projector screen. Unfortunately we were having too much fun for photographs!
Foundation D have had a VERY busy but VERY fun last week of term!! We finished off with our final week of our latest topic, that we have been loving, ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We have enjoyed bringing the story to life through all areas of the curriculum. During PDMU we took on the role of the ‘Big Bad Wolf’ and blew the Little Pigs house down. We used puppets to describe how the Little Pigs felt when their house was destroyed. Except the third little pig, we couldn’t blown his house down no matter how hard we tried! We worked together, taking turns, to paint using straw, sticks and bricks. It was nice using different materials and colours. Lastly, as our big end of term trip, a SOFT PLAY BUS came to school. We had so much fun playing with our friends from Foundation C. It is safe to say we have earned our week off! Happy half-term everyone! :)
This week we continued with our topic of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. During numeracy group work we looked at things that are ‘heavy’ and ‘light’ and tried to ‘low them down’ like the wolf. During literacy group work we worked on recognising our written name. We concentrated extremely well throughout the lesson.
Last week Foundation D started their new topic ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We have has the best time building houses like the Little Pigs and blowing them down like the ‘Big Bad Wolf’. We have also used the story during PDMU to explore the emotions; happy, sad and scared! We will keep you updated with more ‘Three Little Pigs’ fun!
After a lovely Christmas break Foundation D learnt all about Winter. We had winter playtime with a sensory ‘igloo’, made lovely Winter crafts and learnt how to stay warm in Winter.
The last week of term is always lots of Christmassy fun. However, this week was an extra special one as we hosted our very first Foundation Stage ‘Winter Wonderland’. It was so lovely having our families in school to enjoy the experience. Now we are all ready for the Christmas break. Happy Christmas! love, Foundation D!
This week was the start of all things CHRISTMAS in Foundation D. We have had lots of fun exploring Christmas through sensory play, table top activities and art. We even have our very own Christmas shop in class. We are looking forward to all the Christmas activities that are coming up!
As an end to ‘The Gingerbread Man’ topic and a start for all things CHRISTMAS, Foundation D made beautiful Gingerbread Man decorations. We can’t wait to take them home and hang them on our Christmas trees. We are very proud of how they turned out!
In amongst all of the fun we have in Foundation D we can also work really hard. This week during group work we continued to work on sorting for size and recognising our written name.
Today to celebrate Children in Need we made delicious Pudsey buns. Some of us enjoyed them as part of our snack and the some of us took them home for our families to enjoy :)
Last week we started our new topic ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We have enjoyed listening to the story together as well as experiencing the story through lots of fun activities. We created our own gingerbread men using stampers, stencils and different shapes. They look lovely on our display board. During our themed play we have explored creating gingerbread numbers to 3, moved ‘buttons’ using tweezers and explored the different characters of the story. This week during literacy group work we began work on recognising our written name. We all made such a great start to achieving this :)
The last two weeks have consisted of lots of Autumn and Halloween fun! We love exploring with our senses and getting messy!
Our P2 Pupil of the Week (11/10/19) is..... RORY! Well done on keeping all of the Golden Rules and doing your best during 1:1 work!

And our Pupil of the Week is..... DARCI! Well Done on keeping all of the Golden Rules :)
After a week of hard work and lots of fun P2 enjoyed a well earned Golden time!
Attention Autism is one of our favourite things to do in school. This week we sat so well, with such levels of attention and focus. The best part is when the balloon flies around the classroom. Also during Attention Autism, and keeping with our Superheroes topic, we made a superhero cape by splatting paint. It was very messy…and very FUN!
P2 have had a fantastic start to the new school year. This week we have had lots of fun starting our topic ‘Superheroes and SuperME!’.
