Primary Curriculum


Our Primary department caters for pupils in the foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and 2. Teachers use a variety of approaches to help pupils access the curriculum. All pupils work on their own Individual Educational Programme. Achievements are recognized and valued which encourages and helps pupils reach their full potential.

All pupils cover 6 areas of learning as set out in the Northern Ireland Curriculum:

Language and Listening
Mathematics and Numeracy
The Arts
The World Around Us
Physical Education
Personal Development and Mutual  Understanding

Autumn fun in P 1-2.

P1-2 had a great morning at the Folk Museum!

P1-2 are getting ready for their Nativity.

P1-2 went to Mount Stewart for a spring walk.  We found lots of beautiful daffodils.


P7 had a great wee day out on our mystery bus tour around the Ards Peninsula!! We saw and/or visited the '7 Wonders' - Ballycopeland Windmill, Scrabo Tower, Mount Stewart,  Strangford Lough, Grey Abbey, Ballywalter Beach and lastly Donaghadee Lighthouse!

Key Stage 2 enjoying the Christmas play!



Gung Hei Fat Choi! Happy Chinese New Year. P5 had great fun eating noodles and chicken fried rice. We all tried to master the art of eating with chop-sticks. After our feast, we had some fortune cookies and rice crackers, and don't forget the oranges! It was all really tasty!



KS2 have a fun day at W5. We had great fun exploring and investigating all the different activities.



In January, P5 and P6 went to Rockport to take part in the RSPB School BirdWatch Project. Even though it was very wet, we managed to see Curlew, Oyster, Catchers, Jackdaws, Robins, Herring, Gulls, Blackbirds and a Pied Wagtail. Everyone had great fun using binoculars and taking lots of photos with our digital cameras.



In March P5 and P6 had a great day out. They went on the train from Bangor to Holywood. 



P5 Blast Off!!


P5 enjoyed learning about space travel in their "Journey" topic. They got to try real space food that the astronauts would eat in outer space. We tried some freeze dried ice-cream, but we still prefer Mauds!
